syphilis serology

I was treated for syphilis in 2011 (3 penicilin shots). In januar 2014 a had a contact with a male. after two days my groin lymph nodes got tender. As well as an ulcer on my tongue that resolved in a week. I am pretty confident i somehow woke up the bacteria, since i am so scared of life and eveything that i rarely get into sexual situation.. I trusted this guy whom i let to touch and kiss me. And we did oral.
In last half a year i've done tests 3-4 times...but i am still perplexed. All the time VDRL/RPR and 19S-FTA ABS IgM are negative. FTA-ABS rose for a dilution from   520 to 1040 , and TPHA  5140 (15 day after contact),10280 (45 day),  20560 (4,5 month)  41120 (6 month). Is this reinfection? RPR is all the time negative, as well as FTA-ABS IgM. I am certain something is really wrong, but RPR and IgM do not show indication for treatment. But my pubic area is all the time in pain :(. Thank you

i went to the doctor...who decided to give me 3 shots of penicilin. Again. I am just gonna cry.  i practice celibacy for months.. what is the possibility that i got reinfected after kissing with somebody? That is what happened. again. For the third time :( It is just so amazingly unbelievable. Yes, i was more vivacious as a student, but for the last 5-8 years, i am being diligent as best as i can. Meaning...meeting two people a year. I am getting desperate. Cause i am not a bad person...just wanting a bit of love. How to prepare my buttock so that the penicilin shot will be more bearable?

Good questions.  But this is a community forum, without offiical experts. You have my opinion and this information doesn't change it.  You should find an STD/syphilis expert you trust, get personally evaluated, and take it from there.

Thank you, Mr. HowardH.
I browsed all the web and literature.. and the serologic results consfuse me so much! From my treatment on i constantly live in fear of everything and i am avoiding contacts as much as possible. It is uncomfortable that i feel this numb dull pain right above my penis although lymph nodes in my groin were very reactive 6 months ago, so that the fact that something is wrong surely wasn't only in my head. But even more dreadful would be for me to pass bacteria to someone else. that is why it makes me crazy that i am just not sure about my status. So, as i informed myself i learned that at least VDRL or RPR would become positive in case of reinfection. Positive FTAABS IgM would also be and indication for treatment, but it is also true that in reinfection IgM could stay non-reactive. To be sincere about my sexual behaviour: on new years eve (nearly 7 months ago) i kissed with somebody. with a tongue. On 18th of January i engaged in intimacy with a guy who i knew for some months (he was a well educated guy, MD). Therefore I estimated, that he was well (as he stated). And getting a bacteria from kissing with some guy on NY'eve seems to me..as i would have had and enormously bad luck. So incredibly ironically. Anyways, on 21st January I felt pain on a side back of my tongue. as i would bit myself. A day after, my groin lymh nodes became reactive, and it felt like i'd had stones between my legs. I visited my GP to discuss my pain in lover abdomen (he examined urine and blood to exclude bladder inflamation). 6 months afterwards, i still have this uncomfortable feeling in my pubic area. And those four tests revealed TPHA titer rise every 2 months (5120, 10240,  20480, 40960). FTA IgG (640, 1280,1280,1280). VDRL and FTA IgM negative. So why would antibodies TPHA rise so much?! Will i need a treatment again? I also did abdomen ultrasound, and they say, it's ok.
I was recalculating all possible time frames...but i might just be atypical. Thank you so much for 'listening' me and giving me your opinion.

OK, they deleted my original reply   Maybe you didn't even see it. The reply above is accurate.

Also, your symptoms now "pubic area is all the time in pain" has nothing to do with syphillis or any other STD.  See a doctor about it.

Disregard my last reply.  I misunderstood the timing.

The swollen glands and oral sore earlier this year could have been syphilis.  If so, it wasn't from sex only 2 days earlier.  It takes at least 10 days and usually 2-3 weeks for onset of syphilis chancre or lymph gland swelling.  Herpes is another possibility, but the symptoms were really too soon even for herpes.

Your positive blood tests indicate past syphilis but no longer an active infection.  Probably you were infected back in 2011 and cured with penicillin.  Your FTA-ABS and TPHA will always be positive, and the exact numbers may vary.  It doesn't mean anything.  As long as the RPR and IgM tests remain negative, you can be sure you aren't infected and cannot transmit syphilis to any sex partner.

Sorry for any confusion from my first reply.  I have asked the web administrator to delete it -- but I don't know if they do that on this forum.
