No. Your wife's positive IgM result probably is meaningless, and I strongly recommend you not have an IgM test. Below is a thread that explains why; even though it's 5 years old, the information remains accurate.

Welcome to the forum. I'll try to help. To start, however, I'm quite curious why you had 2 HSV blood tests a day apart. You should have stopped with the first -- then there wouldn't be any confusion about your negative results!
As you have learned, the HSV blood tests can give quite variable results. The bottom line is that you are definitely infected with HSV-1, and probably not HSV-2. Even though the official cut-off value of a positive HSV-2 antibody test is 1.1, in the large majority of truly infected people the test produces values of 3.5 or higher (as for your HSV-1 results). Most results around 1.5 are falsely positive.
So basically you have had two negative HSV-2 results -- one definitely and officially negative and the other, only a day apart, weakly/borderline positive and probably false. You can safely conclude you are not infected with HSV-2. No further testing is necessary.
I hope this helps. Best wishes-- HHH, MD
