testing std positive

i had unprotected intercourse on january 9th...2 weeks later i went to get tested for stds and i came out negative. if i contracted std from the unprotected sex , would i test positive by the time that i got tested which was 2 weeks later? is there a possiblity that the test could be wrong and i do have something?

It depends on the std you are concerned about.

Gonorrhea and chlamydia will be positive within a week.  Syphilis can take up to about 6 weeks, HIV can take up to 3 months, and herpes can take up to 4, though many will show positive much sooner.
