Tingling of the sort you describe is not typical for herpes. Herpes prodrome is associated with recurrent, not initial herpes, and typically lasts only 1-2 days before overt herpes lesions appear. Conceivably you have urethritis (chlamydia, NGU or gonorrhea). I have no idea what's in the powder you describe or whether it might cause urethral irritation; but your symptoms are compatible with chemical irritation. If the symptoms persist, see an STD-knowledgeable health care provider, such as your local health dept STD clinic.
Oral or genital HSV-1 or HSV-2 probably are more or less equally transmissible if overt lesions or asymptomatic shedding are present and if the exposed person is susceptible (ie, not previously infected with the same virus). But genital HSV-1 recurs much less frequently than genital HSV-2, both with and without symptoms. Second, half the population has had HSV-1 orally, and all such persons are immune to catching HSV-1 again; therefore, half the partners of people with genital HSV-1 are not susceptible to it. Between these 2 factors, it is uncommon for people to acquire genital HSV-1 from genital intercourse. The biological reasons for the differences in how HSV-1 and HSV-2 behave in the oral and genital regions are not known.
