transvaginal ultrasound

Hey. I'm 7 weeks pregnant and yesterday I had my first ultrasound. Doctor did not put any condom on the probe, only some gel. I thought it was odd but I was so nervous that I didn't understand to ask about it. After I left it came back to my mind and I read that always a condom should be used. Now I'm scared to death that I got some infection or even a std. There were several patients before me. What should I do?

Dont be anxious as you had no risk to contract any std especially HIV, None so relax and enjoy your baby.

It's been two weeks since the ultrasound and I got a flu now, so the fear if I got hiv or something from that procedure after all came back...

Thank you so much for reply. I went back today and I asked another nurse about it. She said that the doctor doesn't put the condom but the nurse that assists him and this is being done before I enter so I shouldn't worry. Is it logical?

Hi, i would not be concerned at all as std,s like gono and such are only sexually transmitted and the gel most likely would have removed any other germs as well. But next time do make this a point with the doctor.
