treated but still test postive

I and my husband received IV  continous infusion Clindamycin treatment times 7 days and the followup testing showed we were both positive with clamydia. I still have pain in my right kidney that I usually have with chronic UTI. I am taking Cipro now for E. facelis but infection will not go away. It is too the point I don't want to have intercourse with my husband. Also did two months of oral macrobid and clarithomycin both I and my husband. Don't know what to do please advise. Chronic UTI have been present since four days into our marriage, always after intercourse times eleven years. I am allergic to sulfa and pcn. Many testings reveal no kidney abnormalities nor stones. Could this strain of clamydia be resistant because of my multipe courses of antibotics. Thank you in advance for your time.

I think what you need to do is get this tested and ask the doctor to do a sensitivity test.  This will tell you what meds will work to cure it.  You didn't mention if you'd had doxy or azithromycin for this yet.

I also wonder if you all have avoided sex for 7 days following the treatments.

Chlamydia has never shown resistence to the macrolide antibiotics such as azithromycin nor the tetracylines such as doxycycline. Clindamycin has no effectiveness for treating Chlamydia.  Cipro is iffy for both Chlamydia and Enterococcus infections. Ask your Doctor to be sure that the Enterococcus is not a resistent strain , as this is becoming more of a problem, especially here in the US. I hope you are well soon. Take care.

Has anyone tried azithromycin or doxycycline?  Those are the most preferred meds.

And are you still testing positive, or are you just feeling the symptoms?
