upper lip problem

I do not believe this to be herpes from what I have read, but I have a problem with my upper lip and would appreciate feedback.

I have had a cut on both sides of my upper lip (each side at different times) which takes a while to heal.  I even used neosporen to assist.  My entire upper lip feels sore if touched sharply, and the middle of the upper lip has been a bit red on the edge.  Occasionally a warm sensation is felt in the upper lip.  Also, there seems to be redness and extreme dryness on the edge of my lips on the right side of my mouth.

Can you please tell me what this may be?

There are different antivirals used to treat HSV.  Which one depends on what your doctor recommends.

these are slight above the corners of my lips...more along a regular fold.  With herpes doesnt the lip stop the burning sensation?  This has been going on for over 3 weeks, except the cuts, they went away.  I will get tested, but I wish I could have some sort of idea what i am looking at.

What type of medicine if given if it HSV1?

this sounds more like something non-herpes going on.

if these are in the corners of your lips, more likely it's angular chelitis. this can even be caused by tartar control/complete/whitening toothpastes.

Testing to see if you are HSV1 positive can help. Don't be surprised if you are. More than 60% of then entire human population is.  That still does not mean that HSV1 is the cause of your symptoms with your lip.  Other than that, it is not std related.
