I'm in the same situation where my girlfriend(who is russian) has been diagnosed with ureaplasma. I had to do a private testing as I live in the UK and they do not check for it usually. I'm still waiting for the results which I am almost certain to be negative. I had to do one just to reassure my lady. Her russian doctor recommended her boyfriend (me) to also take the following medicine same as her:
josamycin drug Wilprafen
flukonazole
ornidazole drug Ornysil
I'm really running out of option. Should I just take them anyway if I haven't been diagnosed with ureaplasma? Are there any serious side effects to those drugs?
My boyfriend had excessive dischargeAbnormal discharge from the nipple Ear discharge Eye burning - itching and discharge Nasal discharge Nipple discharge - abnormal Urethral discharge culture Vaginal discharge and a few months later so did I.
I am tested every 3 months because I don't trust him. He oftens lies. To make a long story short, I was tested and showed up positive for ureaplasma urealyticum and my doctor seemed familiar with it. It is considered to be an STIOrchitis Testicular torsion, but very similar to chlamydia, in the same family. It is sexually transmitted, not just a yeast infection. Many doctors don't know much about it, but I have been doing a lot of research and seen 3 doctors and 1 specialist. It is a new STD out that was not talked about for years. It has several strains causing various symptoms. The person who has excessive yellow discharge first then transfers it to their partner is the one who caught if from someone else. My boyfriend insisted it wasn't him and nothing was wrong. After seeing all my doctors and not giving up, I told him the doctor said he had the discharge first, then I developed it within the next month, and it was him who gave it to me. He finally admitted to having cheated on me. No surprise, but I was starting to lose my mind. Finally I took Zithromax 250 mg. X 2 the lst day, and l pill per day for 4 more days. Next test was negative. My boyfriend took the medication too at the same time and was tested after 3 weeks of taking the meds. He justed tested positive, even after taking the meds, but I am negative. We have been using condoms since we took the meds, but we can't understand why he is positive, he insists he isn't cheating anymore, but I am quite sure he slept with the same infected partner. Please be sure to have the man wear a condom unless you are in a serious relationship and always have your partner tested for all STD's prior to starting a sexual non condom relationship. If you are faithful and you get a disease, you will know exactly where it came from. Good luck. Ottawa, CANADA
Dee: ureoplasma/ mycoplasma diagnosis is problematic as it can be found in virginal genital tracts. Treating a symptomatic person may be reasonable. It or they are not closely related to Chlamydia although people often confuse the two.
I was told it is found in the genital tract. What I do know is that when the excessive discharge showed up in my boyfriend's underwear....I do his laundry for the past 4 years, then it triggered some concern.....within a month...I had the discharge and it was not normal for me...it was leaking down my leg at points where it I had to wear a panty liner daily...no burning, just constant yellowish discharge...now we have both been treated with Zithromax, and used condoms for the past month, now 2 weeks ago he was tested and showed up positive and I who has no immune system due to cancer that I had twice which is now in remission, showed up negative. My question is ...is there a chance he was reinfected by the woman he had the affair with? He is a very strong man, never gets sick and so I have to wonder why he is positive after treatment and I am negative...
Many experts believe that this isn't transmitted sexually - others say it can. However, you might want to follow up just to be sure.
