veneral warts

by hedley, Jan 10, 2008 03:20AM
Just wondering if veneral warts are herpes virus or HPV or some other thing?

Once the warts are treated are you still contagious?

If I have veneral warts should I be tested for other STDs or have a pap smear.

I have only had one partner but he has had several partners so guess  must have got it from him.  Should he have any treatment?

do a pap smear, they catch all the stuff. If your pap comes out suspicious they will do an std panel

Veneral warts are HPV.  Another word for the same thing, though not all forms of HPV cause warts.

The contagious issue a tricky one, but it's generally thought about 6 months after the conclusion of successful treatment, you are no longer contagious.  The truth is that nobody is 100% sure.

BTW a pap smear does NOT catch everything, no way no how.  But it will catch HPV if it's turning into the more dangerous precancerous form.
