what is this and why wont it go away? any suggestions

I've written before about a concern for herpes. It started this august with my first trip to the gyno. I had intense itching and swelling. He said he saw cuts so he took a culture just to make sure, which came back negative. I stopped worrying. Then I had the same symptoms a few months later in October 2005, i went to the doctor becaues of course i was freaked out and he said there were no sores, blisters etc and that i needed to stop beating myself up over this because i didnt have herpes. Then i went back one more time for an annual check up in Jan, and again he said no herpes. Now its been like a few months and for the past three months my external area in my vagina has still been itchy, and its always red, like everyday. Yesterday i had sex with my boyfriend for the first time in about 2 months and afterwards i had a little cut on my labia minor. Does this sound like herpes and should i still be concered. I pretty much forgot about herpes after my doctor wouldnt even give my  a blood test for it because he says i dont have it. and then i get this cut and i know herpes takes a lot of different forms. I just dont understand what would be causing these discomforts.
also my sexual history: I've only had sex with my boyfriend(who was a virgin...of everything never really touched a girl before me), but I had recieved oral from him before this whole thing started. Also I had gential appostion with another kid who says he doesnt have herpes.
I know i might sound insane but I dont know any one else who has these problems all the time and i just dont know what it is.

soo my question is: Should i be concerned about the constant itch and redness, and now about this little cut?

I have this "growth?" on my labia major. It doesn't cause pain and there's never any real inflammation. I have had paps done since this appeared but I am always nervous when I go for my visits and I forgot to mention it. Well she never mentioned it either. I have had some folks say that their doctor had said it was just fatty tissue deposits. Does this sound like any kind of STD?

I don't recall your previous thread.  Your symptoms are not typical for herpes, and in view of your sexual history, it is extremely unlikely.  But based on your symptoms, nobody can say for sure whether you have it or not--but your doctor's opinion you don't have herpes is strong evidence against it.  However, the way to know is to have the blood test.  I don't know why your doctor won'd do it, but you can always find another provider who will do so.

I cannot speculate about other possible causes of your symtpoms.  Vulvar itching is very common and sometimes no specific cause can be found, in which case it might be worth trying an over-the-counter steroid cream, such as hydrocortisone.  I doubt it is an STD.  Here too, your own provider is the best source to figure this out; or seek another opinion if you're not satisfied with his evaluation, maybe a dermatologist.

Good luck--  HHH, MD
