what is wrong with me?

I have a really embarrasing problem.I have some sort of an infection in my vagina.I went to a lake like a month ago while I was on my period and now I'm paying for it.At first I felt alot of itching so I bought a cream called vagisil and since that didn't work i bought a douche thing that supposably would help but that also didn't.I did get alot of discharge when I did that though.Anyways like a few days later it went away but now it's come back but worse. This time  I have like little bumps almost like a rash and since I scratched alot it seems like it spread to my butt.It turned like a brownish color right where the bumps are.I did go to the doctor and he gave me some pills that would help relieve my symptoms as well as this cream I could buy at cvs to relieve the itching. Its' been a few days now and I don't see it getting better, can u please tell me what i have and what to do?Oh and I almost forgot i did have sex the first time that I had the infection and it felt uncomfortable, it sort of itched.

Yeast infection.  No std.  The pills take a while to show improvement.  Please do not ask me how long because i do not know.  The part where you really messed up is douching.  Douching is one of the worst things a woman can do.  Do not ever douche again unless a doctor prescribes one that is medicated for a specific reason.  Also, wear cotton or no underwear if possible.  The more you can air out the better.  Stay away from sugars, sodas, alcohol.  Shower instead of taking baths.  And no unprotected sex.  You can give him a yeast infection and he can pass it back to you.  That does not make it an std.  Yeast lives in everyone and has the potential to overgrow.  I hope this helps.  You didn't ask your doctor what he was treating you for?  ALWAYS ask why you are putting things in your body.
