what to do if trich is resistant?

My brother was diagnosed with Trichomonas and underwent several courses of treatment including long treatment with IV metronidazole and ?urethral? procedures in Ukraine. Recently he tested positive again. He denies any sexual contact over the last few years, moreover he wants to get married and have kids and is afraid that he will infect his wife. What advice can I give him? Can the test be wrong ( I do not know what test they use)? Should he just forget about it and get married? Or should he try even longer IV treatment? Can Trich be cultured and tested for resistance?

Anything can be tested for resistance, but I would want to know what kind of testing they are doing to see if this is accurate or not.
