worried ...

Hey, i am a 19 year old female, and i have had unprotected sex with only one person, besides my boyfriend, whom im his first, and that person i only did it with for like 30 sec.. and it didnt even go in all the way. Im wanting to know what the chances are of contracting hiv? i went to the doctor about a month ago, to get checked for these bumps i had around the genital region, and she said that they are molescum (molluscum), and although i dont have them anywhere else, but in the genital region, i know this is a sign of hiv. also, i have a thick white coating on my tongue, more pronouced towards the back. It comes off easily but comes back within a couple of days. Its not patchy. Ive read on here, that this could be quite normal, is this true? ive also, been sick for like a month, but its not been anything big, just a slight soar throat, and sinus related congestion. I guess I first started freaking out when I had the molescum (molluscum) diagnosed, and then, when i went to the doctor to get tested for stds, i was cleared. But I know there are some things left out of the testing, and this is what I fear I could have something. I also had skin cancer in may, and the occurence of the sex was in march.. but the wound they took out has healed great, and the doc said it wouldnt have healed well, had i had hiv. also, they did all sorts of tests on me when i had cancer, including blood, and i know that it wasnt specifically for aids, but could they have some indication? i know this is alot of questions, but i have alot of worries.. get back to me asap! and thanks for all the help..

You don't have HIV.  Not only is the risk almost zero from the exposures you describe, but it is not true that molluscum is a sign of HIV.  (Well, once in a rare instance; but >99% of molluscum cases occur in people without HIV.)

In terms of other things you should be tested for, at your age and level of sexual risk (i.e., low) the main thing is chlamydia; and to be very safe, gonorrhea.  And just because it will ease your mind--not because it is likely--why not have an HIV test?

Good luck-- HHH, MD
