yeast infection that won't go away!!

by lgd724, Feb 04, 2009 07:18PM
Ok, hopefully someone will be able to give me answers so I know what's going on with my body! About two weeks ago I got a urinary tract infection (ouch) after having had sex with my boyfriend. I've had one before so I stocked up on cranberry juice and uti pills- the whole 9 yards. That painful ordeal went on for about 2 days and then the clouds parted and the sun came through- it went away! But (yes the big but!) I got a yeast infection (or what I thought was one) and so I went to the store and bought vagistat (I've also had a yeast infection before) the burning and itching went away for about a day then returned. I got a precription (fluconazole) for the infection. The symptoms again disappeared for a few days but they started coming back!! So I went out and bought one of those at home yeast infection tests that measures your ph balance and mine was 4.5. 4.5 is a normal acidity level unless you have discharge or yeast infection symptoms, then its likely that you have a yeast infection. So immediately after I got one of the more expensive monistat yeast infection kits and a day later... yes you guessed it- it's back! I also got tested a month ago for chlamydia and ghonorrea and tested negative for both so it's definitely not an std, or at least not one of those two. I have an appt. with a gyn. tomorrow but I would still like to figure out what possibly went wrong!

I think you need to see your doctor about this.  Since you had already used meds, I'm not sure how accurate the home test would be.
