yeast or herpes

one year ago stripper sat on unprotected penis for about 30 seconds before i pushed her away.   checked penis every day for a month no lesions or other symptoms.  went to a doctor he examined penis and thought i was fine but test for clamydia (chlamydia) and gon.  both negative.

one year later my wife has problems with burning and itching in vagina and pain.   goes to gyno while she has the symptoms, gyno says that she has bv and uti.   she takes samples and send to get tested.  the lab test come back for yeast and uti.   she was prescribed medication which she never use because it cleared up after a couple of days.   we had unprotected sex and the next day i noticed that i had about 20 red bumps on the head of my penis and the foreskin.   not blisters bumps.  after 2 days they were gone without medication.    two weeks later the same thing happened, unprotected sex and the next day about 10 red bumps on the head of the penis and foreskin that went away in about two days with no treatment.   the bumps did not burst or get worse they just went away.

Is this yeast or herpes?    if it is yeast do i need treatment as well.   wife was prescribed medication but she never used it.

No STD is likely to have been transmitted by genital apposition without penetration and a doctor confirmed you didn't acquire an STD.

Women get burning and itching of the vagina all the time.  Most cases are not due to STD and yeast is the most common cause, which was confirmed in your wife.  Yeast can cause red bumps of the penis.  Those bumps can clear up in 2-3 days, but herpes lesions cannot; it always takes at least 7-10 days for herpes lesions to heal.

The problem obviously is yeast, not herpes.  Your wife should follow her provider's advice and use the treatment that was prescribed.  Once she does that, your symptoms will stop returning. You probably do not need treatment yourself.

Good luck-- HHH, MD
