Hysterectomy / symptoms!

Hello to All,
I want to ask if anyone here has had to have a hysterectomy during/with having MS symptoms and if symptoms get worse or what? I'm in limbo still and I do not have my MS specialist appt until June 20th so I thought I would ask you wonderful ones instead of calling Neuro.

The reason I ask is because for the last week I have been having pain in uterus/ovaries so yesterday I went to OBGYN doctor, mind you that I had my year ck up and pap in Dec.2011 and just need pap done again in 6mths, so anyhow I went and they did a ultrasound of uterus etc and they found a fibroid the size of golf or soft ball, and numerous other ones smaller and strongly suggest hysterectomy asap. I had this (ultrasound)done 2 1/2 yrs ago but they only found 2 or 3 small ones and also said I had andenomyosis(??) which is opposite of endomytriosis.
So the surgery is scheduled for March 26th. I'm 42 and my husband and I are just ready for this pain to go away.
Prior to this I had a couple of days with the eye pain and increase with tingling and heaviness in leg  and prickly feeling in my head and cognitive things but now this new pain.

I'm just praying and hoping that the Lord will have mercy on me and I will have a quick recovery and the MS sx or whatever symptoms  I have will not increase.

Any advice or experiences on this is so very much appreciated.
Thanks so much and I pray the Lord will bless each of you! :):)

Scared but blessed,
Tammy:)

Marie,
Thankyou for this info and shedding more light. I really appreciate you going to all the trouble to ask questions for me. I am so GRATEFUL!

I'm not sure about complete hysterectomy due to at time of ultrasound my uterus was swollen 3x's the size it should of been and they could not get to the ovaries so the plan is when they do surgery the Dr will see if the cysts I had a couple of years ago on them have increased or look like a threat and if so then they will remove them too.  I guess then I'm looking at
HRT.I hope not!

I pray that the Lord's will be done, but the thought still scares me.
I have at least one handsome son,Luke. He is 10, I'm grateful and blessed to have him and my husband will be glad when all is done.

I now can go forward a little more confident with knowing there is hope and others that have been here before me.So, thanks again for all the great info and time you took finding this out for me.
I will take your advice and be sure to get rest.

God bless you Marie and I wish for you many of his blessings.
P.S.  I hope you're still making out good with that cool wheelchair!LOL
You totally can inspire us with your wisdom. Thanks much!

I'm thankful I found this wonderful forum!

Hi I asked this question on an MS forum i belong to. 2 ladies have had hysterectomys and both have MS. They were fine. Actually one of them said a few weeks afterwards she felt a little better in herself as her body was not having to cope with the problems in her womb.

I had a full and total hysterectomy when i was 27. I had fibroids hanging out, and endometriosis and cysts on my ovaries and a run away endometriosis which they found outside my womb too. Believe me if you have fibroids growing that fast you need to have this done. Yes the recovery is slow but not as bad as it used to be. YOU must rest afterwards, and rest some more.

No cleaning or hoovering and do as your doctor tells you ok. I got my duaghter through hers, she was young too and then she went off riding after 6 weeks (her gynea said she coudl) i was mad about that. Then we have a trapped nerve in her stomach I wonder why? Because she didnt rest and messed up her scaring.

So rest, rest and rest. Its better out then in.

Endometriosis and the opposite one are both auto immune diseases.

You will be fine, you have faith in god and he will look after you. Believe me its better out then in.

Good luck. Are you loosing your ovaries? I never took HRT and have had no problems. Yes I have slight ostepna in the bottom of my spine but that is under control and i am 60. I had my hysterectomy at 27 so have done well. My skin is soft, no wrinkles lol...I did not age, yes I went into menopause and had a few months struggling with the sweats but got through it fine.

Anyway the question was they were both fine.xxxxxx

Bless you Sarah, I needed to hear this somewhat goodnews as I have only heard stories from my mother, mother in law and a cousin(52) so they were all older and had to stay in hospital longer etc.

Once again, Thankyou and many blessings are wished for you especially through your journey!
Grateful and blessed,
Tammy:)

I will make sure to say extra prayers for you to find some peace in all of this.  I hope what I said didn't scare you at all, I just wanted to make sure that was the only option for you.

When I did a rotation in the PACU (recovery room for surgery) there were 2 younger women who both had a hysterectomy.  They both recovered well, and when one was well enough about 2 days later, she said she couldn't believe how remarkable she felt after just 2 days.  Apparently she was having a lot of pain before the surgery, so hopefully this is what happens for you as well!
Hugs and prayers!!!

I want to thank you both for your thoughts and prayers and encouragement.

Sarah-Thanks for replying and for concerns. I had seen 2 obgyns(in same practice)on Tuesday but both felt it is something  that is needed to be done to avoid anything turning cancerous etc.An ablation is out of the question now due to all the fibroids on uterus walls.I go for pre-op on 22nd and the Dr will discuss recovery time. Thanks for hugs and for prayers. I'm just so nervous about it all and it seems after I get over one hurdle then here comes another.

The Lord has been good to me and I trust he will continue to do so.

Val-Thanks for well wishes.I'll need them.:)

Thanks again to you both and I pray the Lord will bless you both and if I could I'd give you both hugs.:)

Grateful and blessed,
Tammy:)

I don't have any personal experience either, I just wanted to say I hope your surgery goes well.

I had to look up that condition; it sounds miserable! I'm glad you will at least have one less thing to deal with once you recover from surgery!

I am so sorry this is happening to you!  They want you to have a hysterectomy?  What about a second opinion for that?  I would definately seek out a second opinion for that.  That is a major surgery and has a somewhat long recovery period, at least for those that I have seen.  Maybe some others here have some personal experience with it.  I do not.  I just know some  people who have had one and have seen patient's who have had one done, as well.

I can imagine that you would have pain!  That's a fairly large fibroid.  I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers as you go through this and that your sx will not get any worse!

Gentle hugs!
Sarah
