Am i schizophrenic?

by oldboy, May 16, 2009 12:48PM
Okay hi everyone, this is actually the first time i ever spoken to anyone about this but i guess i'll go for it.
I'm 17 male, over the last few years i've dabbled with various drugs, cannabis, ecstacy, coke etc
I've stopped now and i'm completely clean..
But when i think, i speak my thoughts in my head, but i've realized that after speaking with people i tend to think in their voices, and when i'm thinking or just generally bored without realizing i imagine arguments and play through arguments using different voices.. Also when i'm in bed trying to sleep i just hear random voices murmerring in my head, if i focus on my breathing they dim down and stop
Okay sounds really weird now..
Also when i look in the mirror i don't feel like it's me, and i had a nightmare a few days ago when i was looking in the mirror and my reflection started laughing at me?

Lately i've been feeling depressed and crave attention, i just want to be normal and happy you know?

Thanks for your time everyone

Those thoughts do sound psychotic but it would be worth speaking to a psychiatrist to find out exactly what it is. Schizophrenia by itself doesn't usually have mood disorders. If you have feelings of depression as well there is also depression or bipolar with psychotic features if a person hears voices or has psychotic thoughts only during moodswings and schizoaffective disorder if they have them all the time. Only a psychiatrist could determine but it would be worth speaking to one. The drug use could have been a form of self medication for this and some of them can have long term effects of their own as well.

Hey ILADVOCATE, thanks for the reply

I think this may be irrelevant but through out my life i always feel like people are looking at me and laughing, or just see me as sub human in a way?

I really want to get all this sorted out now, i refuse to carry on living my life like this..
I'm going to call up and book an appointment with a shrink on monday.
