DIAGNOSIS?

79 Years old, weight down to 135 lbs (from 180), very weak, depressed.  Mobility limited because of weakness.  Had bypass surgery 1979 (heart good according to doctor); controlling blood pressure and gout with medication.  Last visit to doctor resulted in "considerable" emphyzema (but no oxygen req'd).   Family doctor cannot find out why the weight loss (put me on "Boost" for 30 days ... I see no improvement); I am eating very well.   X-rays - at doctor's office and hospital -- stomach, pancreas, liver, gall bladder and lungs = no cancer; numerous blood work shows nothing (even thyroid).  I look as if I have been residing in the Concentration Camp; at this rate, I don't think I will last much longer.

Please advise me on whether I should get another opinion, go to a larger hospital (like UVA)?

It would be good to see someone different, they'll want to repeat some tests which is annoying but they'll have a different way of looking at results.

Taking any vitamins? Might try some extra potassium...low potassium can be a cause.
