stroke
my mom had a stroke 3 weeks ago and has been moved to rehab.  She is sleeping alot and can't open her eyelids....

You have my sympathies. Don't be overly concerned about the eyelids not opening. That is usually due to cranial nerve palsy and disappears (hopefully) within a month or two. The most important thing is to always hold her hand when visiting, talk to her and provide her with as much stimulation as possible. Radio or music. Don't assume she doesn't understand.
