Brown discharge w/blood & Negative Blood Test

Hi i am 18 years old. I am now 6 days late on my period. On the day of my suppossed period I got some brown discharge with some blood, I thought i had started my period but through out the day it started getting lighter and lighter so i didnt need a tampon or a pad, just a liner. This lasted 3 days. I got a pregnancy blood test yesterday and it came out negative. I dont have cramps or sore boobs, thats how usually i know im about to start my cycle. I do get a little nauseous in the mornings and lower back pains but it''s not too bad.
Could i be getting my period or could i still be pregnant ?

Hello, its been 6 days since i wrote this question. and still no period. i an now 12 hays late and no symptoms that i will get it anytime soon.
A day before taking my blood test i went to the gynecologist and he said It might be a pregnancy, but my blood test came out negative, so I really dont know what to think. I been with the same partner for 5 years so i doubt is aids.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi there,
A complete medical evaluation is very important for confirming the exact cause of your symptoms. Old blood in the endometrium is sometimes expelled out as brown discharge. Implantation bleeding due to pregnancy is the commonest cause of such discharge. The other causes of brown discharge are pelvic inflammatory diseases, syphilis, Chlamydia and sexually transmitted diseases. The exact diagnosis of your problems can be made only after a complete evaluation. If you do not have your periods in the next couple of days or experience some unusual symptoms seek the opinion of a gynecologist. Do keep us posted.
Best of luck and kind regards!
