Candidosis...

Ok so my question is the following. As I answer a number of questions on the thread everyday maybe it will sound a little bit strange but here goes.

I'm one of those 5% of male population that has a reaction to candida albicans- candidosis, well it has been a problem for me through all of my sexual life starting from the age of 17. The candida comes and goes and usually shows itself as white stuff which covers the base of the penis head, right under the foreskin. Sometimes causes light itching and that is it. However of course it is an unpleasant feeling.

Regarding the current case. I've been with one girl who is 10 years older then me, and we had a relationship from november. Somewhere near the middle of the relationship I've had a recurrence of candida, but it passed by itself, without me having to use any medicine. My former GF never had any symptoms visited a gynecologist and was tested negatively she is completely healthy.

We had broken up nearly a month ago and after that, dont know the reason but the symptoms came back. Only the white stuff. Regarding my hygiene I'm a very clean person wash myself not less then 2 times a day wash my penis 2-3 times a day with soap, so there should not be a problem.

So after the symptoms appeared I used Diflucan (Fluconazole) - 150mg once for the treatment. The symptoms vanished and for a week everything was great. However it started again, and now I don't know if I should have a full treatment like a week 100mg every day fluconazole in order to completely cure it or start using local creams such as Canesten (clotrimazole) for the same week without systemic treatment??

I think about local treatment, because firstly a resistance could have formed to fluconazole, secondly it is systemic and the possibility of side-effects occurrence in long-term treatment still exists. So what do you suggest?

I would use both, the oral tablet and the cream. When all signs of candida have disappeared you should still be using the cream for at least another 48 hours otherwise it will keep reoccurring.make sure all underwear and anything else you use in that area, fash washers and towels etc are thoroughly washed add some disinfectant to the wash for added security.Good Luck
