Could this be a Chlamydia Mis-Diagnosis?

Hi guys, I had a throat infection the other week and while I was at the doctors he asked me about previous medicines I took. I mentioned some I had been given to clear a suspected case of epididymitis. He looked perplexed and said it would be highly unlikely that I have had that because of my age.

He asked if I still had symptoms, and I said indeed I still have a level of mild discomfort which I had learned to deal with on the odd occasion the problem re-presented, thinking all along that it is probably the same infection. He then said I should go to the GUM clinic as he suspected a possible STD.

Now I'm no expert, but I had 1 faithful partner, and we were each others first sexual partners. We did not use condoms but we were told this was safe due to our histories. Now I'm really concerned that I may have Chlamydia or something worse, and not only that I have not been tested or pointed in this direction before, as my doctors were convinced it was something else. The symptoms I get vary, and come and go, but alarmingly this has been going on for about 4 years.

So I guess what I'm asking is, can someone carry Chlamydia for that length of time? I guess if that is the case, judging by what I've read there is also a chance I may have damaged my fertility. But I wonder if having taken several (5/6) different types of Antibiotics something like this could have been left unchecked. Each time I see the doctors they basically don't know what to do with me.

This does have some impact on my regular sexual function but I will be getting checked out to see if everything is normal. Has anyone had something similar to this, and if so what is the outlook for a guy who may have been carrying something like this for a while? What are the impacts and chances of having children if a positive diagnosis is made?

Since it IS possible to have Chlamydia and have NO symptoms, either one of you could carry it for a long time without knowing.

I'm not sure about men, but I know women can become sterile if left untreated long enough.

Get tested...it's the only way you'll know for sure.
