Dry and Tender Labia Minora

My Labia Minora is dry, slightly tender and peeling. I dont know whats wrong. I havent had sex in a while and my outer part of my vagina is a little tender . I have a slight discharge , as normal, it doesnt smell or look like cottage cheese but it is a little thicker than normal. Is this a yeast infection before it gets to bad or should I just go to the doctor?
