Female masturbation - Are there risks? And why can't I orgasm?

I'm a teenage girl and I masturabte usually 3-5 days per week. I'm too embarressed to say HOW I masturbate, but I was wondering what kind of risks come with female masturbation. It's not like guys, where they have external sexual organs. Girls have vaginas INSIDE our bodies, and I'm sure that makes inserting anything into them more risky, right?

Besides infection from not cleaning what is being inserted into the vagina, what other complications can come from femal masturbation?

(Also, I have another question: I can't seem to orgasm, even after masturbating for the last 4 years. I have Bipolar dissorder, and I have heard that clinical depression (as not associated with Bipolar) can make it hard to orgasm. (And I once heard depression could take the ablity to orgasm away completetly! Sounds crazy, but...) I've had my depressive side of Bipolar appear many times, could this have caused me to have difficulty orgasming, rather than clinical depression by itself?)

Sexual dysfunction is a very common side effect, especially with SSRIs (a type of antidepressants). Common sexual side effects include problems with libido (sexual desire), lack of interest in sex, and anorgasmia (trouble achieving orgasm). Although usually reversible, these sexual side effects can, in rare cases, last for months or years after the drug has been completely withdrawn. This is known as Post SSRI Sexual Dysfunction. SSRI-induced sexual dysfunction affects 30% to 50% or more of individuals who take these drugs for depression. (information found in Wikipedia)

I've never had a problem with desensitization from vibrator use. If you're using it for an extended period of time at once, yea, you get a little numb...but that goes away. I've heard of the desensitization thing before, but I've started to think that it's a myth.

What about you zip7? Have you ever had this problem? Or anyone else for that matter?

Your clit is the key to you having an orgasm. Play with it as you insert something inside. You must have a high sex drive which is good. Good luck and keep trying girl. Bobby

The meds probably have something to do with it. However, stop paying attention to the inside and focus on the outside. I don't know many people who can orgasm from penetration alone...so that sounds normal.

The bathtub thing never worked for me, but I know it works for others so give it a try. Otherwise, get a vibrator...a strong one. Better yet--get a waterproof one and use it in the tub.

also it is not unheard of for women to not be able to orgasm in their teens it can develope for some in their 20s.     how ever if you are taking meds for bipolar and depression my money is on the medicine.    Most of them say on the bottle sexual side affects and most depression meds cause trouble with orgasm.     Their are even now selling short acting depression meds for guys with premature edaculation.    Also to my knowledge the diseases of depression and bi-polar disorder do not cause problems with orgasm, how ever most of the meds taken for these do, but then again i could easily be wrong.

Maybe you just need to try a new technique.  Insertion never does it for me in the beginning, but it is nice to have something there later on.

I actually prefer the bath tub method the best.  Sounds like a strange position, but if you lay in the tub with your feet up on the wall and let the stream of warm water run across your privates, it can be very stimulating.  A vibrator directly on or to one side of the clitoris works well too.

If you're taking medication for bi-polar, this could very likely be the cause.  You're obviously arroused or your won't be doing it but if you can't orgasm, it might be the meds.  Talk to your dr.

There are no more risk for a woman who masterbates then there are for men. Believe me that there is no need to say what you use. But for the record, I can bet someone else has used it to. So, to answer your questions, Orgasm does not generally come from penetration no matter what you use. It can happen but it is not the most common way. Orgasms for women generally come from clitorial stimulation. So if you are only using penetration I would suggest you stimulate your clitoris with you other hand. The two together should do the trick. Now for the next question, I am not sure how bipolar effects orgasms. However I do know that being treated for bipolar and depression can effect it. With the medications used, it is very common to have problems orgasm. It can be achieved it just takes a little more work.
