HPV/HSV 2

I have two questions about std's that I am too embarrassed to see a doctor for.

I had a sexual encounter with a guy who later told me that he has HSV-2. He has never had any symptoms, so this encounter was not during a breakout and it is likely that he was not shedding the virus. We did not have sex or oral sex, but we were laying naked and had mutual masturbation. I believe there was some genital-genital contact, but it was minimal, accidental and momentary. What are the chances that I contracted herpes from this encounter with no sex and no visible outbreak?

I had another sexual encounter with a guy who I later discovered probably had HPV. I know this because his ex girlfriend, whom he had had unprotected sex with many times, had a positive pap smear. She never had any symptoms. Similarly, he also did not have any symptoms. We had oral sex but no vaginal sex, and like above there was probably minimal momentary and accidental genital-to-genital contact. Also, I am vaccinated with gardisil.

I am a virgin and have never had a pap smear (as advised by my brother and father who are both MDs. I obviously cannot ask them about these questionable encounters, and I do not really want to get a pap smear unless it is absolutely necessary. I was wondering what the probability is that I contracted hpv or hsv-2 from the above encounters.

I didn't ask for your censure or condemnation. Simply for medical advice. It is miraculous, considering todays standards, that I am a 22 year old virgin, so spare me your moral reprehension. Go get laid. Sounds like you really need it.

With the herpes.  It's unlikely that you did contract anything if your partner didn't have an outbreak.  Also the virus can die dormant in your system for many years and you don't even know you have it.

With HPV, yes there is a chance that it's been passed on.  Gardasil only protects you against some of the strains of HPV that are out there, but not all of them.  So it's possible to catch a strain you aren't protected against.  But it's unlikely that you did catch anything based on what you've described.

How old are you?  If you are over the age of 18 then you should really be having pap smears every couple of years regardless of whether you are a virgin or not.  You can still get cervical cancer even if you are a virgin.

it is possible that you did contract an std but you'll know eventually one way or the other.  i don't understand why women take risks like that.  i mean now all you are left with is worry. well honey i hope you didn't get something but you are taking some risks with your health by having "encounters" like this imho. i hope you came away with nothing but your worries. maybe say no next time, eh? :)
