Itching and redness in penis

One and half years before I had sex with a sex worker using condoms, but it had broken during sex and I found it only after ejaculation. I immediately cleaned the area with soap. Few months later I had got a flu like spots in my penis and it went of when washed. I also did a stupid thing by applying shaving lotion in my penis thinking it would clean up the area. But I got a very harsh burning and swelling in my penis. I immediately rushed to a sex health doctor and showed him. He gave me some medications to cure the swelling and rashes. He suspected it might be herpes and asked to get my blood tested for HSV 1 & 2. I did and the blood test came negative. He said we need to check once in later stage. I later moved out from that city and I had itching and red sore in my penis. I consulted with a sexual health doctor. He had a visual inspection and confirmed to be herpes and my history mentioned to him. He prescribed medicines to suppress the herpes activity and creams herpes 5%, Candid B, Canesten cream.

I also mentioned him that I am getting married, If I am having STD I may call off the marriage proposal. He said there is noting to worry and asked me to get married. I also did and after marriage my wife developed itching and redness in her vagina, The gyno prescribed candid v for her after applying it got suppressed or gets suppressed whenever she gets periods. (I dint mention my history to her as it may lead to severe family problems). I totally trusted my doctor he said I was fine to get married. I also had check for HIV and it came negative. We are getting this itching and red sores occasionally and sometimes after unprotected sex. We consulted a dermatologist and check he diagnosed as balanitis and gave me TECZIN 5 mg tabs and fucidin H cream and T-top 0.03% cream. Now My skin is totally fine but my urinal tract is paining at times which makes me uncomfortable.

My first doctor told me that there may or may not be an STD, its just depends on one's own resistance. This may be even some bacterial infection or vaginal infection which I would've received from the sex worker.

I feel guilty of spoiling my wife's life based on a doctors words. I had time to stop the marriage and would have prevented this to spread to her. I now only pray that it not to be a STD.

My question here is when I had my first outbreak I quickly tested and found negative. I did not taken any medication when I gave the blood to testing and found negative. HIV test was negative, Blood sugar is normal. So what might be the possibilities, How can I confirm that I am having/ not having an STD. I even fear that I can have a kid or not as if I get chlamydia which might affect the reproductive system

I think you should be tested again for yeast and bacteria. Both of these infections are not very uncommon in uncircumcised men. If you do have another yeast infection you have probably given it to your wife. The two of you could just be passing it back and forth to each other. Can you get in to see your Dr again soon to get these tests? Remember if you have either of these your wife will need to be treated too.

Hi all,

I tried to contact my first doctor and sent him the pictures uploaded here and also explained him completely about my case. He said that he asked me to go for the HSV test at that time because it was more than 3 months after my contact with the sex worker and It should show up with IgM tests, But it did not so I do not have herpes when tested first, but later my second doctor assumed and put me on suppression pills. He mentioned that pills would've been of no use but the creams which he might have prescribed would reduce any infections. He mentioned the last doctor could've diagnosed correctly and as now both are taking the treatment to-gather we will be free from further infections.

I also mentioned him that recently I took only suppression tablets for herpes and no cream, and It did not show any developments instead the infections were increasing. And I confirmed him that I did not take any anti-viral for at-least a month before my last outbreak and blood test. He said that there is 95% chances that I am not affected with herpes.

He mentioned not to have sex until she gets her next period (as my last doctor mentioned). If the symptoms persists we can go for a confirmatory test for herpes.

I am just hoping that this infection does not show up again..

Dear Remar, Thanks for your support..

I have received my complete Blood test for STI done and the results are as follows. I see that I have got positive for Herpes by IgG method.

HIV I/II Antibodies – Non Reactive (0.06)
Anti HCV – Non Reactive (0.05)
Australia Antigen (HBsAg) – Non Reactive (0.02)
Herpes Simplex ( 1 & 2) IgG – Positive ( 4.96)
Herpes Simplex ( 1 & 2) IgM – Negative (0.18)
Herpes Simplex done with ELISA method.
VDRL Test – Non Reactive
Chlamydia Trachomatis – Negative (1.5)
TPHA - Negative

The last time I got my blood test done for herpes before this test was one and half year before. I got HSV 1 by IgG as positive. I believe I have got the same result this time also.

This first time I took the test was 4 months after my contact with a sexual worker.

Can someone interpret the results for me. I pray the results to be normal and I carry some yeast or bacterial infection which can be cured.

I also like to mention to all the forum readers that "Please do not indulge in sex with unknown partners, If you get some STI which might be curable or not the amount of mental imbalance you are going to face will be much worse that the infection itself. Please have relation only with your well known and clean partner."

Yesterday we checked up with another doctor. He inspected both of us. I din't mention to him about my case to him as my wife was with me. Although I told him that I had received my blood test for IgG was positive for HSV 1 & 2 and IgM was negative for HSV 1 & 2. He said that IgG tells us about any previous infections or the immunity level of one against HSV. If we have lesion currently and if test IgM negative then its not herpes. He then inspection my penis and her vagina. He mentioned there was lots of curd like precipitations inside vagina and got it cleaned. After Inspection he told us it was candidas. This due to some infection not being treated properly and you both are transmitting to each other. He prescribed a medication Kit "VDN KIT" and some antibiotics for her and creams for application in local areas.

I also mentioned that I had tested HSV 1 & 2 IgG & IgM one and half year ago and also three days before. He asked us to take the medications now and meet him after 7 days and one month later. If there is recurrence of infection we will go for culture test.

The tests for bacteria and yeast are very simple. They will swab the area and do a culture.
I'm going to check with the herpes forum and let you know about your results. Has you wife been tested for this yet?

Hi All,

I had given my blood samples for testing.

STD Profile (HIV, HSV 1 & 2, both IgG & IgM, TPHA, VDRL)

Anti HCV, HBsAG, Chlamydia Trachomatis IgM & Antibodies (Serum).

They din't collect my urine. They mentioned everything will be done by serum samples. Is it ok. Or Should I go for Urine test also???

Dear Grace,

I have a read a few replies in other topics related to herpes. I want you to read my first post also. I am going to get myself tested for STD today. I hope I will get my results in a week time. I was waiting for an red bump to appear.

I also noticed this time when a red bump has appeared it was very small and no pain but itching sensation. The foreskin where my urinary tract contacts is slightly appearing to be like rashes and some whitish layer appears near by to the rashes. Does this sound like herpes to you???

I also have a query to you will acyclovir reduce the red bumps formation if it was due to any other STD's.

After reading your posts in many threads I feel that I do not have Herpes, But if not herpes what is it. Why my doctors fail to ask me to go for a complete STD profile test.

I thank you for the response from your end.

I will take your words and consult another sex doctor and also take complete STD tests done. I will update you also when I get my results.

I do have a query now. I read that Fucidin H Cream should not be taken if a person has Herpes. But if we apply what type of reaction will it show. Applying fucidin H cream will start healing the skin? or will aggravate the rashes?

See another Dr and have all STD tests done. If you do indeed have herpes then yes, you could have given it to your wife. Many couples marry with one person having herpes and the other not having it. If you go into the marriage knowing you have it and what the outbreaks look and feel like you can prevent your spouse from getting it by not having intercourse during those times.
I highly recommend you see another Dr again for testing. This may very well not be herpes at all and you've been worrying for nothing. If it's a bacterial infection both you and your wife will need to be treated because if she is not treated then both of you will be passing it back and forth. Women and men can get bacterial infections even if they are virgins. So, get the tests done and say nothing to your wife. I do not believe in lying but you could be telling your wife you have herpes when you do not. If your tests come back that you have an STD then you will have to tell your wife.
