hi simon did you buy the canesten? and if so, is your problem improving?
regards
Would just like to add... when you go the link for the product, please dont buy any of the other products except the one at the top called 'oral and cream duo' as the other ones which mention 'internal creams' or 'pessary' are treatments to be inserted into the vagina. Just wanted to makesure you werent gona buy something you cant use!
Hi simon,
I'm not a doctor, but it definitely sounds to me that you do have thrush. Thrush isnt an STI, as it can happen in people who are not sexually active although it can be passed on during sex.
The symptoms of thrush in a male are these:
•a very itchy, red, and sore glans (head of your penis),
•small red spots on the head of your penis (glans),
•discharge from your penis
•pain when passing urine,
•difficultly pulling back your foreskin, and
•a 'cheese-like' substance called smegma that smells a bit yeasty and sometimes collects under your foreskin.
Which most of these are what you have described. The antibiotics you were taking would have no benefit as they dont work on 'yeast' infections; Candida.
STD tests are reliable, and the antibiotics you were taking would have cleared it up if it was an STD.
Because you have mentioned the white tongue, it sounds as though you have got thrush in your mouth too from taking so many antibiotics.
OK so this is what should sort you out:
You need to purchase canesten oral and cream duo. You take one tablet and apply the cream to the end of your penis for about a week (7 - 10 days) the cream should sooth the itching, but you should still continue to use the cream even after it feels better for as long as 7 - 10 days so to makesure all the candida has gone because you have had it for quite a while.
You can buy this from a chemist, or you can go into a shop such as boots or superdrug or even asda. Some shops you can pick it up off the shelf without asking anyone, but if you have to ask the pharmascist, ask for the oral and cream duo.
This is what the product looks like, you can even but it at this link if you prefer. http://www.canesten.co.uk/product-range.htm#content_4
Makesure you read the label before you use the treatment so you undertsand how to use it properly and wash your hands everytime you apply the cream.
I think this should clear up your problem quite nicely. If you still suffer symptoms after this then you definitely need to go back to a doctor, and demand that they get to the bottom of this, but to me, it sounds as simple as a thrush infection.
Good Luck, let us know how you get on.
