Worried about PID

Hi,

I have been diagnosed with PID today as I was suffering from constant lower abdominal pain for the last week. I have had this pain before, for shorter periods, and I am not sure for how long I have had this disease. I have not been feeling well for about a year, with regular pain stomach, digestion problems and other symptoms that were just diagnosed as "stress" by the doctors. I am quite happy they have finally managed to tell me i have something and I will now be taking antibiotics for the next two weeks (Metronidazole 400mg and Doxycycline 100mg). However I have been reading information about PID and it seems that i'm at risk for infertility. Some websites say that 10% women with PID become unable to have children. I am 26 and planning to have children in a few years. Should i get  really worried?

Sorry i didn't ask the right question :) I meant: does PID often has infertility as a result?

I haven't changed my partner for three years and he hasn't been with another girl, i'm 100% sure about that. So I'm not sure how i got this. But you are right I'll just keep being healthy and treat it properly, there shouldn't be any problem.

Thanks a lot :)

What good does worrying do?  You have taken action.  Take all of your antibiotics.  Protect yourself in future by choosing partners wisely and making sure everybody is clean.  If the bacteria can be passed from partner to partner, make sure your partner is treated also.

Eat right and get enough vitamins so you will be ready to conceive when it's time.  Hopefully you will be ready by the time you are 30 if you want better fertility.
