birth control confusion

birth control confusion

ok so this may be a little confusing but i need some help! i recently caught ecoli which is a bacteria blabla and it makes you throw up alot, so unfortunately i had to stop taking my birth control pill when i was about a week before my period. i havent had sex in awile so pregnancy isnt a worry i have. but today, third day off the birth control i seem to have started my period. my plan was to start taking my birth control again after my period started but since it came early im confused on if i should or not. any advice?

Start ASAP. You'll feel a little weird when you start taking it again, but it should go away. The reason you got your period early is because the pill isn't controlling your menstruation. If this ever happens again, what I would say is to swallow the pill with some Pepto Bismol or something to help it stay down.
Ecoli is no fun, huh? One of the girls in my class got it and she was out of school for a week! Icky. I hope you feel better.
If you are still unsure about anything, I would say call your doctor. I don't know your body like your doctor does, and she/he might be able to offer advice that is much more "your-body-unique" than any advice I can give you.
