birth control

I know that going onto birth control and having your partner use condoms is key to keeping pregnancy at bay, but I was wondering about what kind of birth control is best? I heard that the patch is bad and can cause blood clots, but what pill is the best? Aren't there, like, twenty different kinds? Help.

There are lots of other choices too. The pill is one of the less effective ones because it is so easy to miss a day. The Depo shot can cause a calcium defeciency that can lead to osteoperosis later in life, but it is the most convienent (once every 3 months and it halts your period!) also there is a new shot that is a once a month, but I don't know anything about that one. There is the Nuva-Ring that is still pretty new on the market. And they are making IUDs again (not usually given unless the woman has had a child previously).

Yes there are many different types of pill, and they are each different in content. To know which is best for you or your partner you need to speak to an expert. Unfortunately if you speak to a GP, lack of knowledge on the subject will mean that they will most like pick a pill, almost at random. The best thing to do would be to go to a family planning clinic, as they have a greater knowledge of the pros and cons of each pill.
