i just found out that i smell down there

My boyfriend and I are on a break right now after being broke up for about a week, he pointed something out to me that quite embarrasses me but I want to fix because I don’t want it to be a turn off to him or other sexual partners that I might have. My vaginal area is quite foul smelling. I had issues with my period when I was in high school in that it often reeked but I thought that it was just a smell from my monthly cycle no big deal. My friend who is a Certified Nursing Assistant pointed out that it might be from a UTI, but I think it might be BV especially since he pointed out that I’ve always had this problem. I obviously want to get rid of this issue as soon as possible, because it’s a turn off to him and my possible other future sex partners.

It's definitely nothing to do with my hygiene, as I shower EVERY single day.

Reasons why I think it's BV:
-itchy around vaginal area
-I sometimes have vaginal discharge
-vaginal odor
etcetera

There is a testing kit that you can get at the drug store that can help you determine what kind of infection you have. It is in the same area where yeast infection treatments are. You take a sample of the discharge and put it on the kit and it will tell you what it is. It will point you in the right direction. You and your ex-boyfriend could have been passing the infection back and forth. The infection that the other posts are referring to is Pelvic Inflammatory Disease. It is extremely serious. I would get the test ASAP and take care of this. You may also need to keep Rephresh on hand. It helps keep the ph balance in your vagina. Good luck!

I do recommend that you check with your doctor . Although your problem is not that complicated but it could progress to infect into your uterus and end up an unfortunate infertility. You will certainly be put under antibiotics dietary. wish you good luck.

Be sure to be properly diagnosed.  If it is BV, you need a full run of antibiotics to get rid of it, and it needs to be gotten rid of before it progresses to a more generalized infection in the pelvic region.  (Those can be dangerous to your future fertility.)
