I can't get the thought of wanting to perform oral sex out of my mind. I am consumed by it. How can I kill this thought process?

Well, what exactly are you thinking? Is it positive or negative? Are you scared or nervous about it? Or do you feel, like, somewhat perverted for wanting to give/receive oral sex?
It is true that you can get an STI from performing oral sex but there is protection for that, ie dental dams and such. As long as you have a willing and as equally excited partner who enjoys it--Happy safe oral sexing!
