CRAMPED UP

by MrGMoore, Jun 23, 2009 03:59PM
I was in a coma for over 4 weeks last year. Due to a bowel blockage.  I was Septic. Since then
I've had problems with getting erections.  I now take Viagra. lowest dosage.  It is helping somewhat.  I still don't have a full erection.  Currently I have servere muscle spasms in my legs feet and arms during intercourse.  What could be the cause?  I have no other medical issues and not taking any other medications.

Hello.

No one can answer this question for you without a thorough physical exam. I'm wondering who prescribed Viagra for you? You should check with this physician ASAP because the cramping could be a sign of some circulatory problems. And please stop taking it right away before you cause further damage. If you don't have a physician, see an internist or cardiologist.

Viagra improves blood flow to the penis, thus helping erection, but shouldn't be taken by anyone with certain medical conditions. If you haven't had a problem with circulation in your penis, I'm wondering why you're taking this drug. It certainly doesn't help with the many psychological or emotional issues that can contribute to erection concerns. Knowing your body and gaining a comfort with your sexuality, as well as letting go of any need to "perform," are your best strategies. I highly recommend the book "The New Male Sexuality," by Bernie Zilbergeld, Ph.D., widely available both used and in paperback. Millions of men have been helped by the information in this book. Best of luck to you. Dr. J
