Should I test again?

Should I test again?

I'm just looking for some advice. ok, now 5 months ago I was tested positive for Chlamydia. My ex supposely had it but didn't know (I was only with him and no one else for a year) so I know he gave it to me. Anyway, my doc gave me some antibiotics and I started freaking out so I got an HIV test as well, which came out negative. So during the past couple of months I have had safe protected (with a condom) sex with two different guys. I performed oral (no fallacio) for about a minute or so. Well, now my throat is sore and my lymph nodes are swollen. The doc told me it's probably just a viral infection, but I'm still worried. So my question is..

1. Should I get tested for HIV again?
2. Should I trust the HIV test I took when I was positive for Chlamydia?

Whenever you don't trust a doctor, get a second opinion. Personally, I don't like when a doctor tells me it's "probably " something without taking some steps to test and find out if it is ...  Of course there are not always answers- but if your lymph nodes are still swollen I would definitely go see another doctor.

If you want to calm yourself, get another HIV test- although I don't think the swollen nodes would have any impact and give you a false negative. But if you need to have reassurance, go find out again.

In general, I am sure your doctor was more than competent. Your sore throat etc may be totally independent of your sexual activity-- but go check it out to make sure.

If you have had safe sex between the last time you were tested and now then you don't have hiv.  Even if you performed oral.  Slim to none chance, not worth it.

I would suggest.. every time you switch parners get tested.. the other people should do it too.. you will do it to prevent yourself from spreading a disease to others and others transmiting it to you.

no, the above poster is wrong, don't let that freak you out even more!!! sure you've had new partners, but you used a condom, therefore there is no risk.  you are fine, you do not need further testing, just stay safe and you'll be good!!
