extreme swelling

About two years ago I experience extreme swelling of my inner labia during sex. This has happened every time I have had sex since. About fifty percent of the time only one side swells but can swell to be five times how it is normally. It can last any where from eight hours to two days. It isn't painful but scary, VERY annoying, and embarassing. I have searched online but haven't found very much information. At first I thought it may be an allergy but i have paid special attention to how clean everything is and taken allergy medications before sex but it still happens. I also am not having "rough" sex so I am pretty clueless. Any ideas on what may be causing this and how I can prevent it from happening?
