vaginal discharge

I am having vaginal discharge, odor and itching.  I have used a vineger douche and taken a otc remedy for yeast infection.  Yet still I am having this problem.  What can I do? The odor is very strong to the point my boyfriend even mentioned it after sex one day.

There is more than one bacteria that causes discharge, odor and itching. If it is yeast, vinegar douches and OTCs don't always clear up the proble. You might have bacterial vaginosis or something else- and the only way you will know is to go see your gynecologist and get a laboratory analysis. Even though most of the problems with these presenting issues are not serious, they are annoying and tenacious unless you get the right remedy. Since your first hypothesis is not helping you combat the smell or itching, I strongly suggest you go see a doctor who can give you a definitive answer.

It's probably either a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis.  Look up both of these.  While BV is not an STD if left untreated it can cause Pelvic Inflammatory disease which can lead to infertility.  BV can not be treated by OTC medicines, you have to go to the doctor.  I know this may sound gross...but if you provide a little more info I might be able to tell you which it sounds like.  The discharge with yeast is usually more chunky while BV is usually thinner, more grey like or almost milky.  Yeast typically smells like bread or alcohol while BV has a fishy or musty odor.

DO NOT DOUCHE!!!  Douching increases the chances of infection and Pelvic Inflammotory Disease.  Have you ever had a yeast infection before?  I would go to the doctor.  Strong odor, itching, and discharge can be symptoms of an std, bacterial vaginosis, yeast infection, etc.  Don't try and self diagnos and please don't self treat even w/ "home remedies."  You are not a doctor and can ultimately delay proper treatment and the knowledge of whats really going on.

i have had a bv infection before and the smell was more noticable after sex, or during my period. how gross huh? well it goes with having a vagina. get to the dr and get it checked out to see EXACTLY what it is and know that douching is better bad for you. our bodies clean themselves out and if you douche because of odor then there must be something wrong.
