Dysplastic Nevi

by SaraLee61, Dec 08, 2008 10:56PM
I was diagnosed  with melanoma, stage 1b, in May of '07.  Now in Oct of '08 I have had two 6mm dysplastic nevi removed via re-excision.  They were side by side and of moderate grade.  35 stitches on the re-excision.  They were found between my large and small left labia.  I had no idea they were there nor how long.  I am strawberry blonde; blue eyes; and a history of two or three bad sun burns.  With one of the burns I was sick for days.  No hx of melanoma in the family at all.  I am worried.  I get checked every three months, but now every mole looks suspicious to me.  I realize they aren't all melanoma's however, I am just overly cautious.  What are my odds of more melanoma?  I understand that the two I had on my vulva are very rare.  I am very thankful they were found at the moderate grade.  It's easier to ask a Doctor here than in person for me...what are my odds?  Should I expect more melanoma?  The moles found on my vulva worry me more than the actual melanoma on my shoulder.
