Irritated Mole

Hello Doc,

My mother (white, 65) has an inflamed mole near her neck (and near a line of clothing) which has recently started to itch (after putting a band aid) and had formed a white crust (no oozing or bleeding). The diameter is approx 5 mm and the mole is almost perfectly symmetrical. I am attaching a photo. It seems benign to me, but could you please advise on treating it? Antibacterial creme? Also, how often should this be monitored for changes, and when is this considered a warning sign?

Thank you,

-- Alex
