Nodular Melanoma?

So I'm scaring myself.  I am going to the derm this Friday, but I looked this beast up and it seems like it might fit.

I have a bump on my right side, slightly on my back.  It has been there for over a year and I have picked at it.  I have several, much smaller bumps (1 on chest, 1 on face, 2 on back)  They are all harder than the skin around them, but none seem to have that perfectly pronounced dome in Melanoma pics.  Also, they are colored red, like blood.  In fact, they are colored by the blood because when I press on them they go white and then the blood comes back in.  All spots are small and barely elevated.  The one on my side is the least hard, but has been there the longest that I know of.

How likely is it to be Melanoma? I read how nodular only takes a few months to spread, and like I said, I've had the one on my side for well over a year, possibly two that I can think of.

Any idea what these bumps could be?

I have attached a pic of the spot on my side.  It deff looks waxy in light, but is not that firm and does not hold the color when pressed.

I am praying it is not Melanoma.

Yep.  Picking causes granuloma (scar tissue) to form around it and can actually get callous-like.  But let us know what your doctor says .. welcome to our community!

Only one like this.

The one on my arm/back is much harder.  Or course, I have been picking at it for over a year now.

Can picking at a spot make it much denser than the skin around it?  It never looked like the dome I have seen of pics of melanoma.

I'm not a doctor but in my opinion it doesn't look anything like melanoma esp. if you have many similar ones. Let us know what your dermatologist says though.

Take care.
