Opinion on mole

I have had this looked at before at dermatologist but would like a second opinion.  I seems raised and odd shaped to me.  Your thoughts?

where are you from? do you have skin clinics there? we have skin clinics here and thats all they do! skin cancer checks. they have a hand held thing that they plae over the lesion and it magnifies zillions of times onto a computer screen. Find out if you have skin clinics and if not, get a referral to a different dermatologist. Can I make a suggestion also, just beofre you see someone? It may seem bizarre but looking at the pic its a little obscured by hair. Maybe thats why she didnt have a really close look?  perhaps try to clear an area around each mole so it jumps right out at the dr!  be VERY careful though as you dont wnat to scrape the top

It is on my groin directly adjacent to my penis so she seemed to not spend much time on it even though I told her I was concerned about it.  I have one on the other side a little further away and one on my scrotum as well but they don't seem to have the irregular surface. I should post those as well to see if anyone believes them to be suspicious?  I guess in the right light they all seem questionable.

you wouldnt think location would stop them, unless she/he just  a quick glance because of same? or maybe as not on an exposed area discounted skin cancer. Who knows, to me it looks like an irregular shapeand its a mole, enough said. I would insist that it is concerning you and you want it looked at properly, at least biopsied if not completely removed.  My back has had very llittle sun exposure, as I am very fair I have always been careful - one bad dose of sunburn it my late teens - thats all.  So it was not an overly exposed area either.  This is your body and you have a right to be in total charge of it.  Where are you from?

Thanks Warney.

I did go to a dermatologist but maybe I should go for a second opinion somewhere as she did not use anything to view it up close etc. or do a biopsy......maybe due to its location?

Thanks.

I went to a skin clinic two weeks back as had a pink lump on my hand , that thought was harmless. It wasnt yet my family dr said it was nothing. My friend insisted I get a second opinion - glad I listened.  Whilst there he checked me all over.  He found a freckle on my back, called a hutchinson melanona,  it was not very large (about half a pea) but looked a little unregular. They have a hand held scanner which they scan over the suspicious area and it magnifies by thousands of times on a screen - it looked just like yours, though perhaps mine was slightly more irregular  And yes, it was malignant and has spread. I have just started treatment.  I dont know how long it was on my back. I only thought moles were cancers, this on my back was flat and the one on my hand a pink lump. Didnt know about all the other carcinomas etc.  Do go and see someone else ok, please. I will put up a pic of mine in a minute

Hello,

Diagnosis of a melanoma is by physical examination or dermnatoscopy in which doctors cover a suspicious spot with oil and examine it with a brightly lit magnifying instrument. The gold standard for a solid diagnosis, however, remains a skin biopsy.

I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.

Should I ask for something specific from the doctor.  She has looked at it before and says it is fine but I question how she can know just by looking at it, without testing it etc.  This is on my groin area and have two others in the area that may be questionable also.

Should I ask for a specific test?  I can send more pictures.

Thanks.

Hello,
You should get this mole checked from a dermatologist. Melanoma has an irregular border, is asymmetrical, uneven color and increasing in size. If you notice changes in the mole's/mark’s color, height, size or shape, you should have a dermatologist evaluate it. You also should have it checked if it bleeds, oozes, itches, appear scaly, or become tender or painful.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
