Pain under a mole/freckle

I am uninsured and am wondering if I should be concerned with a spot on my arm enough to fork out the nonexistent money to go to a doctor.  I have a spot on the posterior side of my arm that I always thought was a freckle.  I unfortunately do not do regular skin checks and am not sure when the change first occurred.  The spot is dark, but one solid color and is raised and has slight irritation when stimulated.  In comparison it would feel similar to rubbing on a under-the-skin pimple.  I am not used to a mole/freckle being a little painful, so it raised a little concern.  I have dark hair, eyes and tan easily, I don't have a history of sun burns or blistering.  I would appreciate any professional feedback offered.  Thank you for your time.

Hi ... any mole that changes appearance and dark in color in my opinion should be checked ... dark colored or multi colored moles fit the description of the C (color) of moles that could be melanoma and need to be checked.

Not sure on the pain .. maybe you irritated it and now it hurts ??

Keep us posted.  Only a biopsy can tell you for sure along with a dr and physical exam.

C~
