Weird Bump That Fills Up With Blood?

Hello,

I have had this small little bump on the back of my left arm over two years now. I went to a dermatologist about 10 months ago who examined it and said it was of no concern. He said it was a vascular mole? I find that odd because I cannot find hardly anything on the internet that would give weight to that claim. However, I know he's a trained specialist and knows better than I.

The bump sometimes fills up with blood, or so it seems. Then, it will recede becoming soft again. When it does this, it goes from a pinkish flesh tone color to more of a bright red color. Sometimes it even resembles a blood blister.

Today when I got up to take a shower it had more of a purple appearance, now, after some picking it's back to reddish pink.

Anyways, though I have had this for over a year now, should I be concerned about nodular melanoma even when my dermatologist said not to worry? I never gets too vertical off the skin. At most, maybe a mm or two. From everything I have read, NM grows very fast and has a tendency to protrude much more versus other moles and forms of melanoma.

Anyways, a response would be great!

Thanks!

Aaron

I've had one of these for more than 7 years and my doctor says the same thing.  My sister has several on her legs and arms.  I was told that a one time it was probably just a regular looking mole but then something in my body changed.  Mine is near my bra strap which makes it very uncomfortable.  Every couple of years, I have mine lanced and it gets smaller for a while.  Lately I have been thinking about having it removed, although it will certainly leave a large scar.  It's nothing to worry about, just very irritating,

Trust your dermatologist not what you read on the internet (apart from trusting me *wink*). They have studied for many years and tend to know what they're doing or at least they know when they aren't 100% sure and that's when they biopsy. You haven't even been biopsied, that is how sure your dermatologist is ie 100%.

Take care.

Oof, I meant that the bump has been there over a year, not over two years.
