can you scrap off melanoma

While I was sleeping I picked or scrapped a light/mid brown mark on my chest. It turned red, did not bleed and scabbed over, 2 days later during my shower the band aid I had put on to protect it fell off and it got wet I patted it dry and the scab fell off it started to bleed for a minute or so leaving a pink raw bit of skin. Now it looks like it is healing and pink. Now I am terrified that it was a melanoma and I have scrapped it off and the cancer will start growing without me knowing. Can you scrap off a melanoma? If it was a melanoma will the pigmentation grow to the surface again? Does melanoma heal? I know if I go to the gp they will not refer me to a dermatologist and can not afford to pay privately.

I'm not a medical expert, but I am pretty sure you can't scrape off Melanoma. I would definitely recommend you go to the doctor to get it checked. Melanoma is very aggressive. Wish I could help you more. Good luck!
