rash on nipple

hi i am 26 years old and had a baby 6 months ago and my left nipple has been leakin white stuff since i gave birth only a bit (i did not breast feed) but last week a rash came up on half my nipple and the surroundin area and its a tiny bit swollen it does not hurt just aches a bit sometimes and not for long,i worry because my mums mum has just recovered from breast cancer and im a smoker witch puts me at risk i have an appointment with the doctor this week do you think it could be breast cancer or am i worrying for nothing thankyou
