returning melanona

by jen627, Mar 24, 2009 07:20PM
I am 31 yrs old and am about to have 3 wide excisions for severly dysplastic cells and 1 for melanoma insitu. I am so afraid that one day I will develop malignant melanoma and not catch it early. What are the chances of me getting malig. melanoma? What can I do besides frequent visits to the dermatologist??

Sounds like you have caught things very early. I'm not sure there is more you can do than regular skin exams from a professional, other than avoiding sunburn obviously.

Just because you are at higher risk that doesn't mean you will get anything ever again.

I know many people that have had melanomas off and one was grade 3 and another 2 and all of them are doing fine even many years later.

Take care and try not to let this rule your life.
