skin condition

I have an area the size of a silver dollar just above the knee cap that is reddened as if there had been pressure on it. But I have had this for months and it doesn't go away, it has gotten a whitish rough area over it. I have had rare sudden quick pain in the affected knee but the other knee has done this on rare occasions so I can't say it it releveant. I cannot think of any reason dermatogically for this to be other than age, but wondered if this fairly light red discoloration is likely to have significance. It did at first itch and feel a bit irritated, say for the first 6 weeks, but now it doesn't itch. Any ideas?

No bullseye type rash as in Lyme, right.  You may want to repost on Dermatology community, too .. I'm not sure ... ?  but Welcome!

Thank you for your response and your welcoming me. Yeah, no bullseye,  I will try to repost to dermatology. Thanks again.

And do stop by here, too, in case anybody is familiar with this.  Wish I could help some more, but no personal experience with this.

One thought that does come to mind .. is this particular area of the skin in contact with something .. something at all that the other one is not exposed to ?  Like a contact dermatitis such as a nickle allergy or my daughter had sensitivity with sunburn-like rash to the formeldahyde in clothing when it's new . Some fabrics put it in.  Your leg doesn't come in contact with a desk or something containing nickle at all does it?
