worry about time before skin cancer can be removed

by sivvie, Apr 25, 2009 02:24AM
I have a diagnosed nodular basal cell carcinoma on my temple, and have been given an appointment for removal 7 weeks hence.  It is termed 'non-infiltrative'.  Will this (to me) long wait make a difference in size or depth?

I wouldn't worry about the 7 weeks.   My first encounter with skin cancer was with a mole that several doctors (non dermatologists) didn't think even needed to be looked at by a dermatologist.   It was nearly a decade before it was it was finally removed and diagnosed as basal cell.   The scar is minimal at it's worst.   My understanding is that basal cells grow very slowly and I only panic about time of removal when I hear the word melanoma.   If you haven't dealt with skin cancer before, take this one as a warning and watch your moles closely.
