30weeks pregnant with bad cough

by sue3388, Mar 09, 2009 06:15AM
I am 30 weeks pregnant, I am having a bad cough since a week ago. It wakes me up at night and early in the morning. I am not sure if this is a dry cough as I got a lot of plemn with yellow and greeny colors. Am just constantly coughing up plemn and I couldn't really sleep at night and starts coughing again in the early morning. My sleep is really interupted.
I have seen a doctor once and I was given an antibiotic and cough medicine.I take antibiotic twice a day as my doctor ordered me to take twice a day instead of 3 times a day.
But it seems I didn't get feel better. I still got cold sweat, cough, a bit of fever and heavy head, it sounds like I am having a cold. I am so stressed and worried.
Does anyone can help me, please??. Can my baby get infected and lead to premature birth?. Do I have asthma or what?. Why it's been a week I still have extremely bad cough?.
Please help me....

If your cough if from a cold, it should go away within 7-10 days. If you have a bronchitis, the oral antibiotics should take care of it. But if it persists, then another common reason for chronic cough is throat reflux. For whatever reason, small amounts of stomach juices can leak up (enlarging uterus is one good reason), and it can irritate the throat. Try eating early, at least 3-4 hours before bedtime. Sleep on your left side. If not improved, talk to your doctor about a referral to an ENT for a more thorough evaluation.
