There are a number of studies associating low levels of calcium and/or magnesium with PLMD, but no definitive studies showing that treating it cures the other. We don't know if this is a cause and effect or an innocent bystander phenomenon. On the other hand, there are many anecdotal cases of people taking calcium or magnesium supplements with good success. Check with your doctor before taking these supplements.
