2 year old is having trouble sleeping

A little after my little girls 2nd birthday we moved her into a toddler bed and that is when all the trouble began. She started screaming and crying when we put her down and wouldn't stay in bed. She shares a room with a 7 year old, who is in school and loosing too much sleep over all of this. Me and my husband would tuck her in a couple of time  because that is what she wanted, was to keep being tucked in. Finally we had to let her scream it out, we let her know that we would only tuck her in once and to stay in bed. Finally she got it. Now a few months later trouble has started up again, this time it is with her waking up ALL night long to be re tucked in. She screams and cries. So finally me and my husband decided to tuck her in once again in the middle of the night. We started letting her scream right next to us and every few minutes I would simple say "go to bed, I love you, but we will not tuck you in a again" eventually she gets tired of crying and puts herself back to bed. But she continues to do it all night long. Waking 3-4 times a night. I'm not sure what is going on with her. She's also waking very early, and not napping very long during the day I am lucky to get 1 hour out of her. She is a very light sleeper so we have music that plays in her room and a fan facing the wall to drown out any other sounds. We keep it very quiet though. She's VERY active, and she really needs her rest. In the afternoons she's been extremely cranky due to lack of sleep. We really need to get this under control now because we have a baby on the way that is due at the end of December. Everyone in the house is loosing a lot of sleep at night, and my poor 7 year old is having trouble focusing in school.   Oh and I wanted to mention the reason for getting her our of the crib was because she was climbing out and I was afraid of her getting hurt. Was it just too early? That is when this all began. Another question is - any tips for making her a not so light sleeper anymore. This is a concern especially with the newborn on the way. Please help!!

My daughter was of normal weight. Actually we did not diagnose her problem until years later. Does she have a small nose? It is often related.

Thank for you responding. Sleep apnea? I don't think she has that. She doesn't snore. Is there another way to tell? I tried looking it up and it I seen one of the symptoms is also failure to thrive, the doctors use to say that about her, but I'm not sure if she still falls in that category. She is very tiny.

Does she suffer from sleep apnea? Does she have a stuffy nose? This was the problem with one of children. We think of this as an adult problem, but it is no respecter of age.
